Biography
John Cooney graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University (Hamilton, NY) (Cum Laude, High Honors). From the age of 11, he has acted in the United States and around the world.
Now living between New York and LA, John is thrilled to be working with his guide and inspiration for greatness, Susan Batson. Their close collaboration on "Just a Couple of Guys" along with Carl Rumbaugh, producer of the current broadway revival of "A Raisin in the Sun," will undoubtedly be the journey of lifetime for both actor and audiences. John will star in late 2004 as Jerry in this intimate portrait of the private lives of Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin.
Most recently John played the lead role in a short film, entitled, Payne Premium, shot in the salt flats of Utah and he starred in a new musical produced in Phoenix, Arizona, called Root Canal. Whilst abroad in '02 and '03, John premiered the role of Byron in David Pinner’s All Hallows’ Eve. He also had the most fortunate opportunity to play the Emcee in Kander and Ebb’s. Cabaret, as well as the role of Ernst Ludwig. Later that year, John starred with Canadian Actress, Patricia Boothman, in Morris Panych’s Vigil which opened at the Star Alliance Theater.
In April of 2003, John worked on the film, Rasing Helen which will make premier on May 26, 2004. Other film credits include, the Voice in Wang Kar Wai’s award winning, 2046, Charlie in Evil City and Charlie in Love Makes a Woman.
